1982 Honda Passport C70

Angel Blue and White  1k miles

1152 miles.  Three speed with automatic clutch.

One man’s review:

This is a great little bike for the beginner, the economically minded, and those who do not want a scooter with a girlie automatic.  Shifting its three speed transmission is very tricky at first due to the lack of a clutch, however once you get used to it, it is very snappy and will chirp second gear with the stock tire.  Easily the most agile bike I have ever been on, it is extremely forgiving and near impossible to drop even when making low speed parking lot maneuvers.  Top speed is about 55MPH, which is somewhat of a guess considering it only has a 50MPH speedometer.  Down a hill it can do over 65MPH.  Acceleration around town is peppy ….Always use premium gas, otherwise your performance, gas mileage, and reliability will suffer.  Besides with an average of 110MPG there is no need to be cheap.  My best gas mileage out of this bike has been around 130MPG with 93 octane Shell gas.

The Honda C70 is a 4-stroke 72cc OHC street motorcycle manufactured by Honda between 1970 and 1984.  The C70 was the elder brother of Cub C50 with more power, same cheap economical ride and reliability.  It was introduced in USA, Canada, Asia and Vietnam in 1970, first models were called C70 but in 1980 C70 Passport was introduced.  It had a 72cc  air-cooled single overhead cam engine, an automatic 3-speed gearbox, enough horsepower to pull this motorcycle to a top speed of 50 mph.  First models had 6 volt electrics, in 1982 12v electrics and CDI ignition were introduced to further improve the performance of the engine.
